Bio

Alison lives with her parents, younger sister, and older brother. The family is very loving and genuinely enjoys spending time together. Her dad works harvesting in the sugar cane and other various farms. When he is able to find work, they can meet their basic needs. When he is without work, they struggle to survive. Alison is currently in 3rd grade. She is intelligent and can articulate herself very well. Her favorite class is social studies. Alison says, "I really love to study social studies because you can learn about many new ideas and I like to know about things that have happened in different places in the past." Alison loves school, but isn't sure yet what she wants to be when she grows up. Sponsorship could help her study consistently and dream for a better future.

Alison and her family are so excited about her sponsorship! She received her backpack, school supplies, uniform, and shoes. Alison is in 3rd grade. Her school has combined 3rd and 4th grade in one classroom because of a shortage of teachers. Her teacher says that Alison is a great student and hard worker. Alison's favorite class is math. They have been learning about addition and subtraction. She enjoyed her spring break and went swimming with her family. Alison thoroughly enjoyed the time with her family, but she is excited that classes have resumed. She loves school!

Alison was recognized for her high grades this semester, marching in the local Independence Day parade as an honor roll student. She is especially enjoying her math class, in which they are working on addition, subtraction, and basic division, and was especially proud to have her teachers name her as an outstanding student. Through sponsorship, Alison was able to pay for the parade costs, as well as receive a second uniform and set of shoes to last her through the end of the school year.

April 28, 2015

Alison started 4th grade in February 2015. She received her new uniform, shoes, backpack, and school supplies for the new school year. She was also able to receive an athletic outfit to participate in her PE class. Alison has been enjoying her classes so far this year. She continues to be a dedicated student. Her favorite class is math, even though it is also her most difficult. Alison’s class has been learning about division. She loves division, but still struggles some with her multiplication tables. Alison was able to receive free medical care through the New Song clinic. Her family was also able to receive food provisions during a difficult financial time.

November 2015

Alison is doing very well in 4th grade. She has all A’s and B’s in her classes. Her best grades are in PE and Cultural Studies (both 100%) and Science (96%). As a top student, Alison will be participating in her school’s Independence Day march playing the guiro, a traditional Nicaraguan instrument. She is so excited about her participation in this event! Alison received her uniform and shoes for the second semester of classes. Through her sponsorship, she was also able to participate in Mother’s Day and Children’s Day celebrations at her school. Alison really loved the gift that you sent for her. Thank you for making her feel so special.

April 2016

Alison enjoyed getting to meet you during your time in Nicaragua. It was exciting to her to finally meet her sponsor in person. She started 5th grade in February 2016. Alison is attending a new school this year. She moved to the new school because her family feels that it is in a safer area than her previous school. Alison is enjoying her new school and has made several new friends. She received her uniform, shoes, backpack, school supplies and an athletic outfit to participate in her PE class. Alison loves her math class. They have been learning to calculate in perimeter of pentagons and polygons. Alison has also enjoyed learning about the ozone layer and how to care for the planet in her science class. Thank you for continuing to invest in her life.

Fall 2016

Alison continues to do well in her new school. She is very friendly and has continued to build new friendships in her class. She has a C+ average overall in her classes which is not as good as she could do. Alison has been thoroughly enjoying her science class as they have been studying the solar system. Alison has been very interested to learn about the different planets. She received her new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes. Through her sponsorship Alison has been able to participate in two field trips with her class. Her sponsorship also provided Alison with the necessary supplies to complete several class projects.
