Bio

Allan lives with his mom and three brothers. His father recently abandoned their family. His mom is now struggling to provide for her sons as a single mother. Allan says, "My mom is the best because she continues to move forward with my brothers and I even after all that we've been through." His mom doesn't have steady employment although she does work repairing and altering clothes for people in the neighborhood. Allan is in need of medical care for a problem with his kidneys. His mom is unable to provide him with this care. Sponsorship would allow Allan to receive free medical care. Allan started 5th grade in February 2014. His favorite classes are math and Spanish. In his free time, he likes to garden and to play with his brothers. He dreams of becoming either a truck driver or a mechanic.

December 2015

Allan is so excited to be a part of the sponsorship program! This is such a blessing to him and his mom, especially since Allan is preparing for his graduation from 6th grade in December 2015. Allan received his uniform, shoes, and school supplies to successfully complete the school year. He also received an athletic outfit to fully participate in his PE class. Allan is working hard and raised all of his grades in the most recent grading period and he is passing all classes for the school year. His best grades are 100% in PE and 80% in both Cultural Studies and Technical Studies. We are excited to see how he will grow through this program.

April 2016

Allan graduated from elementary school in December 2015. He was excited to celebrate this achievement! His sponsorship covered his graduation costs. Allan started high school in February 2016. The transition from elementary school to high school can be difficult for many students. Allan is doing well with the transition. In high school, Allan studies additional subjects including English and geography. Allan says that geography is his easiest class because he loves studying maps. Learning English has been his most difficult subject. Allan is very bright and we know that he will do well in English as he continues to practice. This year Allan also joined a baseball team as a part of New Song’s sports ministry. Please pray for Allan’s family. They have been going through a difficult time both financially and emotionally. Allan’s stepdad moved out of the house and is no longer supporting the family. His mom works from home sewing and repairing clothes. They are so thankful for his sponsorship and the opportunity that it gives him for consistent education despite their financial struggles. Allan and his brothers have a strong bond with their mom and continue to move forward as a family.

Fall 2016

Allan received his new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes. His grades are lower than last year, but he is passing all of his classes in the first semester. However, in the second grading period Allan had a failing grade for conduct. Our sponsorship staff has met with Allan and his mom about his conduct in school. His best grades are 84% in Natural Science and 80% in PE. Through his sponsorship Allan has been able to create maps for his geography class. Allan also had the opportunity to participate in a field trip with his class to the capital city of Managua. He has enjoyed learning to extract key information from a paragraph and continuing to practice long division. Allan says that his teachers are understanding, loving and above all, very patient. Part of Allan’s struggles with his behavior in school is due to hardships within the family. Allan has still been upset about his stepdad leaving the family.
