Bio

Aracellys lives with her mom and four older siblings. The family is very loving and encouraging, but they struggle to meet their basic needs. She says, "My family is great because my mom and siblings love me a lot and take good care of me." Her dad died in 2011 from renal failure. Her mom washes and irons clothes for families in the neighborhood, but doesn't earn enough to provide for their needs. Aracellys began her last year of preschool in February 2014. She loves to learn to write her letters and learn her numbers. In her free time, she likes to play with dolls. When she grows up, Aracellys dreams of becoming a doctor.

July 2015

Aracellys and her family are so excited about her sponsorship! This is such a big blessing to their family. Aracellys received her uniform, shoes, backpack, and school supplies for the school year. She graduated from preschool in December 2014 and started first grade in February 2015. Aracellys has been enjoying first grade so far. She loves learning both letter sounds and math. She has been learning to identify letters and their sounds and learning to read simple words. In math, she has been learning to identify numbers.

April 2016

Aracellys successfully completed first grade in November 2015. She started second grade in February 2016. She received her uniform, shoes, backpack, school supplies, and an athletic outfit to participate in PE. Aracellys is enjoying second grade, especially her math class. She enjoys playing with numbers and has learned her numbers 1-100. She finds Language & Literature more difficult than math. She is working hard learning to read and write. Aracellys is excited because her older brother had been drinking a lot, but now he has stopped. Thank you for continuing to support Aracellys in her education.

Fall 2016

Aracellys continues to work hard in second grade. Aracellys is doing well in her classes. She has satisfactory grades in all classes. Her teacher says that she works hard in class and attends school faithfully. Aracellys does not have support at home from her mom to do well in school. Aracellys received a new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes. She also received additional school supplies that she needs to be successful in class. Through her sponsorship, she was able to participate in a field trip to the aquatic park with her class. She had so much fun!
