Bio

Bryan lives with his mom and three brothers in a small wooden house. Bryan’s dad walked out on his mom and sons. She has since remarried, but his stepdad does little to help the family. His mom struggles to care for her children as a single mother. She owns a sewing machine and works from her home making and repairing clothing. She does not make enough to support the children and the family is often without food. Bryan started his first year of high school (7th grade) in February 2014. His favorite classes are math, Language and Literature, and Natural Science. He dreams of studying business administration and later running his own business.

January 5, 2015

Bryan and his family are so excited about his sponsorship! Bryan was able to receive a pair of school shoes and packet of school supplies in order to finish out the last month of school. Bryan just completed his first year of high school (US equivalent of 7th grade). Bryan has struggled to be successful in school this year because his family cannot afford to provide his school supplies or allow him to complete class investigations or field trips. His sponsorship will allow him to be more successful as he continues through school. Because of the lack of resources this past school year, Bryan received a failing grade in history. He will be taking a summer school class in order to pass history for the year. Through his sponsorship, he will receive tutoring to help prepare for his cumulative exam at the end of summer school. This exam in January will determine whether or not Bryan will move on to his second year of high school. Bryan and his family attended a clean water seminar at the church and were able to build a water filter for their home. They now have access to clean drinking water for their family.

Bryan and his family are so thankful to be able to start this school year completely sponsored. The whole family is grateful for the uniform, school shoes, backpack, and supplies that Bryan received through his sponsorship. This takes a huge load off his parents’ shoulders. We are incredibly happy to say that due to Bryan’s and two of his other siblings’ sponsorship, their other brother was able to move back in. Bryan’s dad recently began working with a new ministry under New Song Mission. New Song has begun a baseball ministry for kids 6-12 years old. Although Bryan is too old to participate on a team, he helps his dad as a coach. This is a great opportunity for his family to get more involved within the church. Bryan began his second year of high school at the beginning of February after his two month vacation from school.

July 2015

Bryan has been doing better in his classes recently. His grades are improving especially his conduct grade as he tries harder in school. His favorite class, currently, is science. Bryan says he likes science because of the topics they cover and because he enjoys learning about nature. In July, Bryan had a week off of classes for a school break. He liked being off and was able to spend time with his family. Bryan’s family has been going through a hard time as his dad has become more detached and does not help provide for the family. Through his sponsorship, Bryan received his second uniform of the school year and shoes for classes. He also received school supplies to help him complete several class assignments and projects.

November 2015

Bryan has worked hard this year to pass all of his classes. Although he struggled in some of his classes especially history and math, he is looking forward to passing for the year. Bryan finished this year of high school at the beginning of December and is glad to be on vacation fro school. Through his sponsorship, Bryan went on a class field trip to the mountains of Nicaragua. He really enjoyed this time especially going to see a waterfall. His sponsorship has also helped him complete several class assignments and projects.

April 2016

Bryan began his third year of high school in the beginning of February. Thanks to his sponsorship, he received his uniform, shoes, backpack, school supplies, and an athletic outfit to be able to participate in his physical education class. He says that the most interesting things that he has learned is about experiments in his science class. His mom has be able to find more jobs to do for her sewing business. He mom always encourages Bryan to work hard in school. His sponsorship provides him with the tools he needs to succeed.

Fall 2016

Bryan and his family have been facing a difficult time both financially and emotionally since his stepdad left them. Bryan’s mom continues to work sewing and fixing clothes in order to support her four boys. Bryan works hard in school, but classes are difficult for him. In his first grading period, he was failing both math and geography, but was able to raise both grades significantly in the second grading period. Bryan received his new uniform and shoes for the second semester of classes. Through his sponsorship, he has been able to complete special class projects and attend a field trip to the capital city. Bryan’s sponsorship also allowed him to celebrate his 15th birthday in June. Bryan has been taking a class on Saturdays to learn to repair cellphones. He wanted to develop a skill that would allow him to help support his family. His sponsorship has covered the cost of his participation in this class.
