Bio

Carodin lives with her parents and her older sister. The family is very close-knit. Carodin’s mom works in a farm harvesting various crops and her dad works seasonally in the sugar cane fields.  Carodin started second grade in February 2015. She loves to sing and draw. When she grows up, Carodin wants to be an artist.

December 2015

Carodin is an intelligent girl who loves school and loves to learn new things. However, on her second report card of the year she was struggling with keeping up with her reading. She has begun to come to special tutoring taught by New Song staff which will give her more practice in her reading skills. Her top grades are in culture and civics. Her teacher comments that Carodin attends class daily and is on time. Carodin received her second uniform and pair of school shoes of the year. Through her sponsorship, she also was able to receive funds to see the doctor and dentist at the New Song Clinic and complete several class assignments. Her class went on a field trip to another city where Carodin was able to visit the zoo.

April 2016

Carodin began third grade in February. She received her uniform, shoes, backpack, school supplies and an athletic outfit to participate in her PE class. Carodin works hard in school, but struggles in some of her classes. She is attending weekly tutoring with our sponsorship staff and her sponsorship is also providing funds for her to meet with a private tutor during the week. She is working hard to succeed in school this year! In math class Carodin has been reviewing multiplication and division. In Language & Literature, she has been learning to complete dialogues and write paragraphs.

Fall 2016

Carodin has been struggling in third grade. Her grades are slowly improving, but she still maintains a low gpa. Carodin does not attend tutoring sessions and is struggling to put forth her best effort in her classes. Her sponsorship helped Carodin to create maps and make an album of national symbols. Her sponsorship also allowed Carodin to attend a field trip with her school to the movie theater. Carodin received her new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes as well as additional school supplies she needed in order to be successful in her classes. Carodin fell at school one day and hit her head on the concrete. Thankfully sponsorship was able to provide her with medical care through the New Song clinic.
