Delinger is SO excited to be sponsored. When told that he now has a sponsor, he jumped up and down and couldn’t wait to write a letter! He has finished school for the year and will start back in February. He loves school especially his math class. His grandmother comments on how bright he is and how he constantly has ideas on how to fix things.

May 23, 2014

Delinger began the new school year in February. He moved to another area to live with his mom so is attending a new school. At first, the move was difficult because he left his numerous cousins that he lived with. However, now he likes his new school and has made several friends where he lives. He is also enjoying attending Sunday school at the New Song church close to his new home. After the move, Delinger got sick with a terrible cold. With the help of his sponsorship fund, Delinger was able to receive the tests and the medicine he needed. He was also able to receive more medicine when he got sick again. Through sponsorship, Delinger received his uniform, backpack, and the school supplies he needs to be successful in his classes. His favorite class is math. He is learning his multiplication tables and just loves school!

October 28, 2014

Towards the end of May, Delinger fell out of a tree and broke his femur, requiring serious surgery to reset the bone. He has been unable to go to school while recovering, as his cast has him immobilized from the hip down, but the doctors have high hopes that they will be able to remove it within the next few weeks. Delinger has kept his spirits up through this whole ordeal, and although stranded at his house, his new neighborhood and Sunday School friends have been eager to come by and visit with him. Sponsorship has provided him with a new uniform for when he is ready to head back to school, and several books and materials to help keep his mind active even though he can’t get out and play. Delinger is spending some time at his grandmother’s house in the community he used to live in for a change of pace while he waits for his cast to be removed, and is excited to get back to his former activities as soon as possible.

Delinger has had his cast removed! He is doing so well now, although he is required to wear an orthopaedic shoe several hours a day to ensure his leg continues to grow properly - sponsorship was able to cover the cost of this, and he is quite excited to show it off. Even better, he loves being able to run around with his friends and family again, and to take part in all his normal activities. He even got to go out to support his cousin's preschool graduation this month. Despite his broken leg, Delinger kept up with his schoolwork and was able to pass all his classes. He will be moving on to fifth grade next year...We couldn't be prouder of all the hard work he's done!

June 13, 2015

Delinger began the fifth grade at the beginning of February. We are so proud of his persistence and determination to do well despite his injury last year. He is not behind in his classes and maintains excellent grades. Through his sponsorship, Delinger received his uniform, school shoes, backpack, and the materials he needed for the beginning of the year. Delinger’s sponsorship was able to provide funds for a small birthday celebration in January. He also got his annual dental cleaning and fluoride treatment from the New Song Clinic. Due to Delinger’s broken leg last year, he wears special shoes to ensure that his leg heals correctly. His sponsorship was able to help with the costs of these shoes, visits to physical therapy, and appointments with his doctors. Delinger is enjoying his school and even though he just started attending it last year when he moved in with his mom, he has made many friends. His favorite class continues to be math, in which he is learning and practicing long division. This can be a difficult subject for many students but Delinger boasts that it is “pretty easy” for him.
