Bio

Eddy lives with his mom, dad, and two brothers. His father pastors the church at New Song. Eddy is in the 5th grade and enjoys math class most of all. In his free time, Eddy studies and plays soccer. He dreams of being a doctor when he grows up.

Eddy is so excited to be sponsored! He literally jumped for joy the day he heard the news. He received his uniform, shoes, backpack, and school supplies for the new year. Eddy started 6th grade in February and is looking forward to his elementary school graduation in December. He is a C average student. His favorite class this year is Language and Literature. He is enjoying studying stories from different time periods. Eddy has also become a part of a youth discipleship at New Song Church.

Eddy received his new uniform and shoes for the second semester of classes. Eddy is a C student overall. His best grades are in Cultural Studies (81), PE (80), and science (77). In math his class has begun a unit on fractions. They have been learning to divide fractions. In his Language & Literature class they have been reading various types of texts and are now learning to write an exposition. They are working together in small groups to write, memorize and present their expositions. Thanks to his sponsorship, he was able to participate in mother’s day and kids’ day celebrations at his school. He was also able to complete special class projects. As a focus on preventative health care, Eddy received a new toothbrush and dental hygiene class from one of the dentists at New Song. Eddy continues to be involved in the church’s youth discipleship program and is growing in his faith. Eddy’s family is expecting a new baby in December.

This has been an exciting time for Eddy and his family!  In September, Eddy was honored as one of the top students in his class and participated in the Independence Day march. On December 12th, Eddy graduated from primary school. We are so proud of him! His sponsorship covered the costs of his promotion. Also, on December 1st, his family welcomed a new baby girl, Claudia Yasary, to their family. Eddy loves his new little sister. Sponsorship has helped Eddy in numerous ways in the last few months. It has allowed him to complete investigations for his class, cook typical Nicaraguan food for a class project for Cultural Studies, helped Eddy participate in a dance activity for his class, provided food provisions for his family, and helped Eddy purchase a class ring to celebrate his graduation. Through a generous donation, Eddy and his family received a water filter for their home to ensure that they have clean drinking water.  He is enjoying the break from school spending time with his family and playing with his friends. He looks forward to starting high school (7th grade) in February 2015.

Elias began his first year of high school at the beginning of February. Elias is such a good kid who really loves people and wants to do well in his classes. He is a typical boy who loves to be with his friends. In January, Elias broke his arm climbing a mango tree. His sponsorship helped his family with the costs of his hospital visits, transportation, and medicines. To begin the school year, Elias received his backpack, uniform, school shoes, and supplies. His sponsorship also provided him with a separate uniform to be able to fully participate in his physical education class. Elias made a big decision to be baptized in March. We are so proud of him and his walk with the Lord. He has a deep desire to learn more about God and become closer to Him.

November 2015

Elias is working hard in his first year of high school. The transition can be a difficult one for many students but Elias is trying to do well. On his second report card of the year, his top grades are in culture, civics, and his vocational class. Elias is a great kid who wants to do well in everything he does. He is going through a time where he is looking for friends and trying to figure out where he fits in. Please pray for Elias as he manages his early teenage years. Through his sponsorship, he received his second uniform and school shoes of the year. He was also able to go on two field trips with his class to different cities around Nicaragua including the capital. His school held events celebrating Mother’s Day, International Kid’s Day, and Father’s Day and thanks to sponsorship, he was able to participate.

April 2016

Elias began his second year of high school in February 2016. He received his uniform, shoes, backpack, school supplies and an athletic outfit to participate in PE. His favorite class is science because he enjoys learning about plants and animals. His class has been completing projects in their school garden. Elias also enjoys learning English. This year sponsorship provided Elias with an identification card that he can use to complete investigations at a local cyber café for his classes. Elias has been spending time every week investigating and researching for various classes. Elias and his closest friends are all very involved in New Song’s youth Bible study. Elias is one of 10 youth who was chosen to participate in a one-day mission trip to the neighboring city of Leon. Elias is a tender-hearted kid who desires to grow in every area of his life. We are excited to see how he will grow this year.

Fall 2016

Elias is such a sweet, fun-loving kid. He has a sensitive heart and loves to serve. He has become a part of our youth leadership group. We are excited to see how he will grow this year. Elias has also stepped into a role as a Sunday school helper working with the youngest kids, ages 3-6. Elias continues to work hard in his second year of high school. He has a C average overall in his first semester of classes. His best grades are 100% in Vocational Studies and 90% in PE. Although he has raised his grades in many of his classes, he has been struggling with his behavior in class. In the second grading period, Elias had a failing grade in conduct. Both his parents and our sponsorship staff have met with Elias about making better choices in regards to his class conduct. Elias has enjoyed learning how to divide polynomials. He also was able to complete a class project that showcased animal and plant cells. His sponsorship has helped him greatly in his classes. Through his sponsorship, Elias has been able to complete several class projects including a project to build a replica bone for his science class. Elias was also able to cook a traditional Nicaraguan dish to present for his Cultural Studies class. Elias was also able to purchase a book that he needed for his class. He received a new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes.
