Bio

Eduardo lives with his parents, two older siblings, and baby niece. Eduardo’s dad works as a security guard while his mom stays home and takes care of the home and children. Eduardo is currently is 3rd grade. He loves to study Spanish and math. He has a great personality and loves to make people laugh. In his free time, he likes to play baseball and soccer. When he grows up, Eduardo wants to be a security guard like his dad.

Eduardo finished fourth grade in December 2013. He finished the year with a B- average. His best grades are in PE (92) and Civics (90). However, his favorite class is mathematics. Eduardo enjoyed his school break with his family over the holidays. He used the time off from school to continue to study his multiplication tables for the next school year. Eduardo began 5th grade in February 2014.

June 25, 2014

Eduardo received his uniform, shoes, backpack and school supplies for the new school year. He has also been able to receive extra school supplies for special class projects. He is now is 5th grade and is really enjoying the new school year. He has an 81% average overall. Eduardo's best grades are in Cultural Studies and PE. His most difficult class is math. Eduardo has been reading stories and focusing on reading comprehension in Spanish class. In science they have been doing a unit of sex ed and studying the reproductive system. In math, he has been learning division of large numbers. He is also a member of the dance ministry team at his church in Santa Matilde. Eduardo loves learning new dances and dancing for the Lord. He has been coming to weekly tutoring session in order to keep learning more and improving his school grades.

Eduardo received his new uniform and shoes for the 2nd semester of classes. He continues to enjoy 5th grade. Eduardo is struggling a little in his math and science classes, but is passing all of his classes. His best grades are in Technical Studies (94) and Civics (93). His favorite class is math. Eduardo has really been enjoying his math class recently as they have been completing a unit of fractions. He enjoys working with fractions, but says that dividing fractions is the most difficult. Eduardo’s sponsorship allowed him to participate in his school’s celebration for International Children’s Day. His family has also been able to receive food provisions to help them during a difficult financial time. Eduardo was also able to receive needed medical care through the clinic at New Song.

Eduardo successfully finished his year in 5th grade. His sponsorship allowed him to participate in his school’s end of the year celebration. It also provided his family with food provisions for Eduardo and his family when they were without work. Eduardo and his family participated in a public health teaching at the church where they learned about water-born illnesses and received a free water filter for their family to ensure that they have clean drinking water. He also participated in a hygiene teaching where he learned to brush his teeth properly and received a free toothbrush and other hygiene items. Eduardo is enjoying his break from school. He has been practicing baseball. He is joining a 12 and under league through the church. Eduardo began 6th grade in February 2015.

Eduardo has been enjoying his last year in elementary school so far. He received his new uniform, shoes, backpack, and school supplies. He also received an athletic outfit to fully participate in his PE class. Eduardo participates well in class, but is often talkative and can be easily distracted. Eduardo’s teacher says that he does well in his classes, but has been struggling a little bit with long division in mathematics. Eduardo has a friendly personality and makes new friends so easily. Eduardo continues to be very involved in his church. Thanks to a donation from a visiting mission team, Eduardo received a free pair of flip-flops to wear while he plays with his friends.

Eduardo continues to succeed in 6th grade. He has a higher grade point average this year than last. His best grades are in Cultural Studies (98%), Technical Studies and Science (both 95%). Although Eduardo is doing well in his classes, he continues to struggle with his conduct in class. Eduardo is a good-hearted kid, but he talks a lot in class and can be a distraction to other students. Also his teacher has had issues with Eduardo and some of the other boys talking vulgarly in class. Both his parents and our sponsorship staff have been advising Eduardo about his conduct. His most difficult class is math. They have been learning to multiply and reduce fractions. Many students are struggling with this new unit of study, especially reducing fractions. Eduardo was chosen to participate in his school’s Independence Day march as one of the top students in his class. His sponsorship covered the cost of his participation in this event. Eduardo also received his new uniform and shoes for the second semester of classes. We are proud of the progress he has made this year and are looking forward to celebrating his graduation with him in December 2015. Eduardo and his family were so excited for the opportunity to meet you and to visit with you and your family in September. It was such a joy for him to connect in person with the family that has been helping him.

Eduardo celebrated his graduation from elementary school in December. He was so proud of his accomplishment! His sponsorship covered the cost of his participation in his promotion. Eduardo started his first year of high school in February 2016. He was nervous to start high school, but he is doing well and making new friends. His favorite class is math. Eduardo’s most difficult class is English. This is his first year studying a foreign language. Through his sponsorship, Eduardo received an identification card that he can use at a local cyber café to complete investigations for his classes. Eduardo has been able to research for several classes. Thank you for providing that opportunity for him! Eduardo also joined a baseball team through New Song’s sports ministry. He is a great baseball player! He plays both pitcher and catcher. Eduardo has also been helping our sponsorship staff to provide tutoring for struggling first graders.

The transition from elementary school to high school can be extremely difficult for many students, but Eduardo is handling the transition very well. We were so proud of his grades in the first semester. Eduardo has a B- average overall. His best grades are 95% in PE and 88% in both Science and Cultural Studies. He is proud of himself and has been enjoying his first year of high school. He comments that his teachers are respectful, friendly and caring. His sponsorship has been able to help cover his transportation costs now that he takes the public bus to school. He was also able to participate in a field trip with his class. Through his sponsorship Eduardo also received a dental cleaning and fluoride treatment. Eduardo received a second uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes.
