Bio

Eliezer is the middle child of three. He just started 5th grade in a new village after his parents split up last year, and he and his siblings moved to be closer to his mother's family. They get to visit their father and grandmother often, which all the kids enjoy. Eliezer's favorite subjects are math and language arts, and he enjoys playing soccer with his brother. When he grows up, Eliezer wants to work in construction, like his father.

Eliezer is finishing up his first year in a new village and at their new school, and in addition to helping their family settle in to their new location, sponsorship has provided him with a new pair of shoes, school supplies, and medical attention for when he was feeling under the weather. Eliezer's best classes are Civics and Language Arts, but he is an overall good student and brings home consistently good grades. His mother has found work at a local convenience store, which helps provide income for the family, and he continues visiting with his father and grandmother in the neighboring city on weekends. In the upcoming school vacation, Eliezer looks forward to using his free time to play more soccer, and studying his older brother's notes so he can be ready for 6th grade in February.

April 22, 2015

We are so proud of Eliezer. In December, he was honored as the top student in his fifth grade class during the graduation ceremony. Eliezer finished his fifth grade year in December and began his 6th grade, and last year of elementary school, in February. He enjoyed being on break from school and spent a lot of time playing baseball with the community. Eliezer received his uniform, backpack, school shoes, and supplies to help him start the new school year off well. He also received a free dental cleaning and fluoride treatment to ensure good dental health. Eliezer and his family also received a water filter and a teaching on water borne illnesses. This will provide clean drinking water for them for several year.

July 2015

Eliezer has such a hilarious sense of humor and he is always willing to help whenever he can. On his first report card of the school year, Eliezer received all passing grades. However, his grades are lower this year in his sixth grade year than last year. His teacher comments that he is extremely intelligent and can do very well in school but he is getting distracted by some of his classmates and is not paying attention as well as he should be. Eliezer is working harder to bring his grades up and improve his classroom behavior. In June, Eliezer celebrated his birthday and his sponsorship allowed him to have a small celebration with his family. Through his sponsorship, Eliezer was able to participate in school events celebrating Mother’s Day and International Kids’ Day. He also received his second uniform and school shoes for the last half of the year. In July, Eliezer had a week long school break and he enjoyed time playing with his friends and neighbors.

November 2015

Eliezer is a very intelligent boy and succeeds in his classes academically. Eliezer’s main problem in school is his behavior. He has a difficult time paying attention and not being a disruption. His mom works so often she is not present to talk to him about these things. Eliezer’s grandparents help to mentor him, but Eliezer has been receiving counsel from his pastor and leaders in the church. They encourage him to do well and to focus on his studies. Eliezer graduated from elementary school in December. He is excited to move up to high school, but it will be a big transition for him. The nearest high school is a bus ride away compared to his elementary school that was down the street from his house. Eliezer is a little nervous about being in a much bigger school with students he doesn’t know. We know that Eliezer can succeed and do very well if he works on his behavior in class. On his last report card of the year, Eliezer had 90s in almost all of his classes.

April 2016

Eliezer began his first year of high school at the beginning of February. Thanks to his sponsorship, he received his backpack, uniform, shoes, school supplies, and an athletic outfit to be able to participate in his physical education class. The transition from elementary school to high school can be difficult for many students. Eliezer is a very intelligent student, but the drastic change in schools has been a hard adjustment. His elementary school was very small and his new high school is large with several teachers per grade and class. Please be praying for Eliezer in this transition. His favorite class is math because he understands everything he is learning. This is Eliezer’s first year learning English in class. He is loving getting to learn a new language. Recently, Eliezer’s family had to leave the land they were renting. Fortunately, they were given land in another part of the community. The church pulled together and raised money to help them build a house on the land.

Fall 2016

Eliezer received his second uniform and pair of school shoes of the year in July. He is halfway through his first year of high school and his behavior has improved so much from last year. On his second report card, Eliezer’s conduct grade was 100%. Through his sponsorship, Eliezer has received all of his needed school supplies including notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, and a geometry set. His favorite thing that he has been learning is how to make dialogues in English. In Eliezer’s high school, his class studies history for the first semester and then switches to study geography in the second semester. Geography can be a challenging and demanding class for some students as there is a lot of assignments given to create maps. Eliezer’s mom got a new boyfriend recently. Eliezer’s siblings like him okay, but Eliezer has had a hard time getting used to him. Eliezer was able to get his annual dental cleaning and fluoride treatment through the New Song Dental Clinic.
