Gabriela began the fourth grade at the beginning of February. She is so excited to begin this school year sponsored. She and her mom are extremely grateful for this opportunity to be able to study with all of the supplies she needs. She received her uniform, backpack, school shoes, and the supplies she needed to begin the year. Gabriela received her first report card of the new year and is passing all of her classes. Her top grades are in her culture class (92%) and civics (83%). In math, her class is learning about basic division, which can be a difficult concept for many students. April 2016

Gabriela and her mom enjoyed the opportunity to visit with you again during your time in Nicaragua in January. She began the new school year in February. Gabriela received her uniform, shoes, backpack, school supplies and an athletic outfit to participate in her PE class. Gabriela continues to work hard and attend school faithfully. Her class has been learning about the rotation of the Earth in science. She has also been studying about Central America in social studies.

Fall 2016

This year Gabriela began a program that covers both 5th and 6th grade in one academic year. She has been doing well in her classes and has a B average overall. She is preparing for her graduation from elementary school at the end of this year and is excited for this celebration in December. Gabriela received her new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes as well as additional school supplies that she needs to be successful in class. Gabriela has enjoyed her science class. They have been learning about the reproductive system. The school has also been teaching sex education as well as encouraging students to speak up against sexual abuse. Through her sponsorship, Gabriela was able to cook a traditional Nicaraguan meal and present it for her cultural studies class. Gabriela has commented that she and her family miss you and hope you are able to visit again soon.
