Her dad is sick from kidney disease and unable to work. Her mom is also without work because she has to care for her sick husband. The family is struggling to meet their basic needs. Glenda does not have a bed to sleep on, so she sleeps in a hammock.

December 2015

Glenda is so excited to be sponsored. Her sponsorship came just in time to allow her to participate in the Independence Day Parade with her class as she was honored as a top student. This was the first year that her school was also asked to participate in the big, main parade as well as their smaller one for elementary schools. All the students were so excited and absolutely loved being a part of it. Glenda raised all of her grades significantly on her third report card of the year. Her top grades are in physical education (97%), civics (92%), culture (90%), and math (90%). Her teacher says that she is an intelligent girls but sometimes talks too much in class. Glenda has been attending the weekly tutoring sessions taught by New Song Staff. In math, her class did a unit on basic fractions, and are now working on order of operations. Through her sponsorship, Glenda received her uniform, backpack, supplies, and school shoes to be successful in her classes. Glenda has been playing baseball on the Santa Matilde baseball team.

April 2016

Glenda began the fifth grade at the beginning of February. Through her sponsorship, Brisney received her uniform, backpack, school supplies, shoes, and an athletic outfit to be able to participate in her physical education class. She is a very smart student and her favorite class is math. In social studies, her class is learning about maps and the different countries in Central America. She has also been learning about blood types and the importance of donating blood. Thank you for believing in Glenda and what she can accomplish.

Fall 2016

Glenda received her second uniform of the year in July. She is halfway through her fifth grade year and really likes her teacher. Through her sponsorship, Glenda has received all of her needed school supplies including notebooks, pens, pencils, and crayons. Her top grades are in her vocational class (100%), physical education (90%), and civics (85%). Glenda is a very intelligent girl but struggles some falling into peer pressure and paying attention in class. Her school also had a school-wide event celebrating typical Nicaraguan foods. Sponsorship helped provide the funds for this event and the church came together to cook for the school. Glenda also received her annual dental cleaning and fluoride treatment through the New Song Dental Clinic. Recently, her community was without running water for a couple of weeks. Sponsorship provided the local school with a bucket for every classroom so that the students could have drinking water while in class.
