Bio

Isamar lives with her parents and four siblings. They family is very loving a filled with joy. They enjoy being together. Isamar’s dad works driving a bicycle taxi, but it is difficult to provide for a large family on his small salary. Isamar started 2nd grade in February 2014. Her favorite classes are math and Language & Literature. When she grows up, she dreams of becoming a doctor.

Isamar is so excited to be sponsored! She is very bright, but shy. She is enjoying this year in second grade. Isamar loves school, especially her math class. She is a B- student overall. Her best grades are in PE (88), Cultural Studies (83) and Math (81). In math they have been working on learning their multiplication tables. In Language & Literature, they have been studying antonyms and synonyms. Isamar received the school supplies that she needed to finish out the last few months of second grade. She was also able to receive needed dental care at the New Song clinic to fill a couple cavities that she had.

Isamar successfully completed 2nd grade. She has a B average overall with her best grades in PE (97), Cultural Studies (85) and Civics (82). Through her sponsorship she was able to participate in her school’s end of the year celebration. Her family was also able to receive food provisions when they were without food. Isamar and her family participated in a public health teaching at their church where they learned about water-born illnesses and received a water filter for their home to ensure that they have clean drinking water. She also attended a hygiene teaching where she learned to properly brush her teeth and received a free toothbrush and other hygiene items. Isamar was also able to receive free medical care and medication through the New Song clinic to treat a cold and sore throat. She has been enjoying her vacation from school playing with her little sister and neighbors. Isamar began 3rd grade in February 2015.

Isamar is doing well in the third grade. She enjoys school a lot and her teacher comments that she is smart and completes her work. In math, Isamar is learning her multiplication tables. She can recite them in order but is still working to memorize them completely. Isamar’s language arts class has been reading stories and answering questions about those stories. She really enjoys getting to read. Thanks to Isamar’s sponsorship, she was able to receive funds to participate in her school’s Mother’s Day and International Kid’s Day events.

December 2015

Isamar is a sweet girl who loves playing with her family. Her teacher comments that she is working hard in her classes and has an 82% average. In math, she is learning about multiplication of multi-digit numbers and in the beginning stages of learning about long division. Her mom continues to sell snacks on the school property which helps Isamar stay focused on her schoolwork. Through her sponsorship, Isamar received her second uniform and pair of school shoes of the year.

April 2016

Isamar began the fourth grade at the beginning of February. Thanks to her sponsorship, she received her backpack, uniform, shoes, school supplies, and an athletic outfit to be able to participate in her physical education class. Her favorite class is math. Isamar has been learning how to take care of plants and keep the environment clean in her vocational class. Her most difficult class is Science and her easiest is Language Arts. Isamar and her family went on a trip to a nearby lagoon. Isamar loves spending time with her family. Her mom continues to work selling snacks at the local school. Thank you for believing in Isamar!

Fall 2016

Isamar received her second uniform of the year in July. She is halfway through her fourth grade year and continues to do well. Her top grades are in civics (100%), science (95%), and social studies (93%). We are so proud of how well she is doing this year. Isamar’s teacher comments that she is well behaved and pays attention in class. Through her sponsorship, Isamar received all of her needed school supplies including notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, and a geometry set. Her favorite thing that she has learned about is the unit her class did on poetry. Her school also had a school-wide event celebrating typical Nicaraguan foods. Sponsorship helped provide the funds for this event and the church came together to cook for the school. Isamar also received her annual dental cleaning and fluoride treatment through the New Song Dental Clinic. Recently, her community was without running water for a couple of weeks. Sponsorship provided the local school with a bucket for every classroom so that the students could have drinking water while in class.
