Bio

Jennifer will turn 15 years old in April 2015. She lives with her older sister’s family including her three nieces and one nephew. She is blessed to have her sister’s support as well as an incredible example of a father and husband in her brother-in-law. Her brother-in-law works at the youth pastor at the local New Song church, but struggles to provide for her and his four children. The family lives on land owned by the church as they work to cultivate the garden there. Jennifer began the 5th grade in February 2015. She is a little behind in her studies due to living inconsistently in other places before moving in with her sister. She loves where she is living and has a great relationship with her family, consistently seeking their advice and guidance. Jennifer is incredibly sweet and loves helping to take care of her nieces and nephew. She is excited to be in a home permanently and be able to study consistently.

Jennifer is so thankful to be sponsored for school! This has been a tremendous blessing to her and to her family. Now she will have the opportunity to study consistently. Jennifer started 5th grade in February 2015. She received her uniform, shoes, backpack and school supplies to start the new school year. Jennifer has been working hard in her classes and enjoys her math class the most. Through her sponsorship, Jennifer was able to celebrate her quincenera together with her friends and family. She is generally shy and was very nervous during her quincenera celebration. However, afterwards, she said that she really enjoyed having her entire family and so many of her friends there to celebrate with her. This was a dream come true for Jennifer! It also turned out to be a very monumental time for her. Although she lives with her older sister and her family, Jennifer was very excited to have her mom and dad there to celebrate her quincenera with her. Her dad has been very ill and actually passed away a couple weeks after her birthday. It meant so much to Jennifer that he was able to attend her quincenera and that she has that memory with him. Jennifer and her siblings miss their dad and are heartbroken over this loss. Please pray fro them as they walk through the grieving period. Jennifer is still very sad, but her heart is beginning to heal. Jennifer was also able to participate in a dental health teaching where she learned the proper way to brush her teeth and received a free toothbrush. Jennifer has been growing so much both academically and spiritually since moving to Santa Matilde to live with her sister’s family. She was baptized in March 2015. We are very proud of Jennifer and excited to see the growth that will occur in her life this year.

November 2015

Jennifer continues to do well in 5th grade. She has an 88% average overall. Her best grades are in Cultural Studies (98%) and PE and Technical Studies (both 96%). Her most difficult class is science. Jennifer enjoys her math class the most. They have been studying fractions and decimals in math. Jennifer received her new uniform and shoes for the second semester of classes. She also received an athletic outfit in order to fully participate in her PE class. Through her sponsorship, Jennifer was able to cook a traditional Nicaraguan dish for her Cultural Studies class. She was also able to participate in celebrations at her school for Mother’s day, Children’s day and Father’s day. Sponsorship has helped Jennifer personally as well as academically. She was able to receive free medical care and medicine through the clinic at New Song. Jennifer was also able to receive a bed because she was sleeping in a hammock. She is thankful for all the ways that sponsorship has been able to support her success. We are so proud of her!

April 2016

Jennifer began the sixth grade at the beginning of February. This is her last year of elementary before she starts high school next year. We are proud of how well she is doing. Her sponsorship has allowed her to study more consistently and get on track with her studies. In Jennifer’s early elementary school years, she wasn’t able to study with the same support and so she is catching up. She does so well in school and we are thankful that sponsorship can give her the tools she needs to succeed academically. Through her sponsorship, Jennifer received her uniform, backpack, school supplies, shoes, and an athletic outfit to be able to participate in her physical education class. Her favorite class is math because she enjoys getting to multiply. She says that all of her classes are easy and doesn’t really struggle with classes. Jennifer has been growing a lot in her relationship with the Lord within the youth group and church. She was so excited to receive your gift and your encouraging note.

Fall 2016

Jennifer received her second uniform and school shoes of the year in July. She is halfway through her last year of elementary school and will celebrate her graduation in December. We are so proud of her and know that she can put forth the effort to do well in high school. Living with her sister’s family and receiving sponsorship aid has enabled Jennifer to attend school regularly when she did not have that option previously. Jennifer’s top grades are in culture, physical education, and her vocational class (all 100%). Her teacher says that she attends school regularly and is always on time. She has enjoyed learning how to make a summary table of lessons in her Spanish class and making flower vases out of bottles. Her school also had a school-wide event celebrating typical Nicaraguan foods. Sponsorship helped provide the funds for this event and the church came together to cook for the school. Jennifer also received her annual dental cleaning and fluoride treatment through the New Song Dental Clinic. Recently, her community was without running water for a couple of weeks. Sponsorship provided the local school with a bucket for every classroom so that the students could have drinking water while in class. Jennifer is very thankful for her sponsorship and hopes to see you soon.
