Bio

Jonathan lives with his parents and two younger brothers. The family is very loving and tight-knit. Jonathan’s dad pastors the New Song churches in both Candelaria and Santa Matilde. Jonathan says of his family, “They are wonderful. They are the best family that God could have given me!” Jonathan is currently in his second  year of secondary school (US equivalent of eighth grade). His favorite classes are Spanish and physical education. In his free time, Jonathan really likes to draw. He is an excellent artist and even won an art competition at his school last year. He also loves to work with computers. He dreams of becoming a graphic designer when he grows up. Your generous giving will support Jonathan through his high school graduation.

Thanks to your sponsorship, Jonathan received new school shoes, PE clothes, a backpack and school supplies. Because of sponsorship he also received help to participate in a Saturday computation class in Chichigalpa. Jonathan loves computers and is excited for the opportunities to grow in his computer skills. He is a dedicated student and has a B average in all of his classes.

January 10, 2014

Through sponsorship, Jonathan was able to attend a school field trip to the capitol city, Managua. He just finished his 2nd year of secondary school and will start 3rd year in February 2014. He finished the year with a B average. His best grades are in Cultural Studies (100), Technical Studies (98), and Natural Science (90). Jonathan also loves computers and has been taking a computation class on Saturdays. He just finished the first year of a two-year computation program.

Jonathan started his 3rd year of high school (10th grade) in February. Thanks to sponsorship, he received his new uniform, shoes, backpack, and school supplies for the year. Jonathan is in his 2nd year of computation classes. His sponsorship is helping him to take these classes on Saturdays. He loves working with computers and dreams of studying graphic design. He has begun to attend a youth discipleship program through the church.

January 3, 2015

Along with 3rd year, Jonathan is finishing up the last of his 2 year computation course. He has a hard time staying interested in his high school classes, as he is excitedly looking forward to what he wants to do after he finishes secondary school, but admits he has a great Language Arts teacher and quite likes that class. His mother is expecting a little girl in December, and he is excited to get to play oldest brother to the newest addition. Jonathan went on a school field trip in September and learned about preparing traditional Nicaraguan dishes this year in order to understand more about his culture. Sponsorship helped cover these costs, as well as providing food aid and medical attention when he was feeling unwell. He looks forward to playing soccer with the neighborhood boys over his upcoming school holidays.

Jonathan and his family welcomed a new baby girl, Claudia Jasary, to their family on December 1st. Jonathan adores his baby sister! He and his brothers dote on her and love her well. Jonathan started his 4th year of high school in February 2015. Jonathan is enjoying his new classes. He received his uniform, shoes, backpack, and school supplies for the new school year. Also, Jonathan’s sponsorship was able to purchase a new bed for him after his bed broke. This has been a blessing for him and has helped him to be well-rested and ready for school. He is still looking forward to life after high school and planning what he wants to do with his future. Jonathan completed the computation class that he was taking on Saturdays last year and is looking forward to starting a new Saturday class in mechanics. Jonathan longs to take every opportunity that he can to learn as many skills as possible. He is already thinking about his future and skills that he will need in order to find a good job.

July 2015

Jonathan is doing well in his fourth year of high school. His sponsorship allowed him to purchase a scientific calculator to help in his math class. It also allowed him to participate in a class field trip to Managua where they were learning about health care and safe sex practices. Jonathan was able to participate in mother’s day and children’s day celebrations at his school. He was also able to buy supplies to cook a traditional Nicaraguan meal for his Cultural Studies class. Jonathan received a new uniform and pair of shoes for the 2nd semester of classes. Jonathan has started to attend a new guys’ discipleship group through New Song. He has really loved being a part of this group. Recently they have been learning about respect for women, for others, and for themselves. Jonathan has been growing so much through this group!

November 2015

Jonathan successfully completed his fourth year of high school. When school starts again in 2016, Jonathan will be in his fifth and final year. Jonathan has already been thinking a great deal about his plans after high school and talking with his parents about how he plans to support himself through post-high school study. We are excited to see his commitment to hard work and to education. Through his sponsorship, Jonathan was able to complete a special class project to receive his Nicaraguan identification card and attend three class field trips. Jonathan missed several days of school due to illness, but thankfully was able to receive free medical care through the New Song clinic in order to recover.

Jonathan began his fifth and final year of high school in February. He is excited to be in his senior year and is looking forward to completing high school. Jonathan received his uniform, shoes, backpack, school supplies and an athletic outfit to participate in his PE class. Through his sponsorship, he was also able to purchase books that he needed for his biology and vocational studies class as well as complete a special class project. Thank you for continuing to invest in his education.

Fall 2016

Jonathan received his new uniform and shoes for the second semester of classes. This is his final school uniform. Jonathan is getting more and more excited about his upcoming graduation in December. He has enjoyed studying biographies of poets in his Language Arts class. Jonathan is busy working on his senior research project and presentation on Ruben Dario, Nicaragua’s most famous poet. His best grade is 90% in Math. English is his most difficult class. Thanks to his sponsorship, Jonathan was able to participate in a field trip with his school to the capital city of Managua.
