Bio

Jose lives with his parents and two siblings. His family struggles financially because both of his parents are currently without work. Jose is in 6th grade and preparing for his graduation from primary school in November 2013. His favorite classes are math, Spanish, and natural science. Jose love to play soccer in his free time. When he grows up, he dreams of becoming an engineer.

Sponsorship has done so much for Jose this season. He was given a new backpack, uniform, shoes and school supplies for the new semester. He was also given additional supplies that were required for a special school project. Jose is doing well in school. His highest grades are in P.E. and Cultural Expression. And, next month, he will be honored as one of the top students in his class! In addition to helping Jose with school resources, the student sponsorship program was able to do something special for Jose. Jose had always dreamed of having a dinner party to celebrate his birthday with all of his family and friends. Through sponsorship, we made his wish come true! To celebrate his 12th birthday, we gifted Jose his very first birthday party.

Jose Reynaldo just finished his last year of primary school and celebrated his 6th grade graduation in December. His sponsorship covered the cost of his promotion and allowed his family to have a special dinner at home to celebrate his accomplishments. He also received extra school supplies for special class projects his class worked on last semester. He was chosen to play for a school soccer team and received cleats through his sponsorship. He will begin his first year of secondary school in February 2014.

Jose began his first year of high school in February. He is enjoying being in high school and having different teachers and more than one class. His favorite class is math and his least favorite is social studies. He also loves being involved in the church at New Song and has begun to attend our youth discipleship program. Through sponsorship, Jose received his uniform, backpack, and the school supplies he needs in his classes. He is also playing on a school soccer league. His sponsorship was able to cover many of the costs to participate. Jose has received extra help through his sponsorship to complete projects and other school assignments.

Jose received his second uniform and shoes in July. He is currently passing all of his classes and especially enjoys learning English this year. His sponsorship was able to cover the costs of a big Mother’s Day celebration at his school. Jose’s school went on a field trip to a nearby city and beach. He really enjoyed being able to participate in this event. Through his sponsorship, he and his family received food provisions during a time when no one was working. Now that Jose is in high school, he has more school assignments and projects. His sponsorship provides him with the resources that he needs in order to succeed in his classes.

Jose finished his first year of high school at the end of November. His grades were very constant throughout the year. He was proud to be passing all of his classes and continued to work hard to complete all his assignments. His teachers comment that he is a good student full of energy though he can be chatty in class. Jose Reynaldo’s class participated in an activity learning about different Nicaraguan traditions. His sponsorship allowed him to join in this event by helping to cook a traditional dish. He also received school supplies and money to go to an internet café to do research for a school project. Jose Reynaldo was able to go with his class on a field trip to a neighboring city. Jose Reynaldo and his family participated in a health teaching on water-born illnesses and received a free water filter for their home to ensure that her family has access to clean drinking water.

Jose Reynaldo started his 2nd year of high school in February 2015. He received his uniform, shoes, backpack, and school supplies. He also received an athletic outfit in order to participate in his PE class. He continues to participate well in class, but would often rather talk to his neighbors than pay attention to lectures. Jose Reynaldo’s favorite class is English; he loves learning a new language. His most difficult class is Language and Literature. Through his sponsorship, Jose Reynaldo has been able to visit local cyber cafes to complete several class projects and investigations. Jose Reynaldo loves to spend time with the other boys in his neighborhood. He loves to be the life of the party and make everyone laugh. Jose Reynaldo is active in the church’s youth group, has a great group of friends, and continues to work hard in school although he maintains average grades.

Jose Reynaldo continues to do well in his second year of high school. He has an 80% average overall for the first semester. His best grades are in Cultural Studies and Natural Science (both 95%). His most difficult classes are Math and Geography. Jose Reynaldo received a new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes. His sponsorship greatly supports his academic success and has allowed him to complete special class projects, cook traditional Nicaraguan food for his Cultural Studies class, research for his classes, and create maps. He was also able to attend a field trip with his class. Sponsorship made it possible for Jose Reynaldo to participate in celebrations for Mother’s Day, Children’s Day, and Father’s Day at his school. Jose Reynaldo continues to make everyone laugh. He is smart, but a class clown.

April 2016

Jose Reynaldo began his third year of high school in February 2016. He received his uniform, shoes, backpack, school supplies and an athletic outfit to participate in his PE class. This year sponsorship provided all high school students with an identification card in order to visit a local cyber café to complete any research assignments given in their classes. Thanks to his sponsorship, Jose Reynaldo has been able to complete research assignments in several classes. His favorite class is currently science because he enjoys learning how to take care of nature and protect animal species. Jose Reynaldo still loves to laugh and joke with his friends, but says that he is learning to behave better in his classes. Thank you for continuing to invest in his education.

Jose Reynaldo continues to work hard in his third year of high school. He has a B average overall. His best grades are 100% in PE, 97% in Vocational Studies, and 92% in English. He received a new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes. Through his sponsorship, Jose Reynaldo was able to complete several class projects as well as an exposition that he had to present in class. Jose Reynaldo was also able to go on a class field trip to the capital city of Managua. Jose Reynaldo said that this year he has been learning more about respecting both his teachers and classmates.
