Bio

Linsey lives with her parents and two older siblings in a small house made of pieces of tin. Her dad was recently diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and no longer allowed to work in the sugar cane fields. Her mom is trying to provide for her family by washing laundry for neighbors and cleaning at New Song's missionary house. Her family struggles to meet their basic needs. Linsey started her first year of preschool in February 2014. She is so excited to attend school! She dreams of becoming a model; she loves to walk around the yard in her sister's high heels. She dreams of getting a job where she can help her family.

October 28, 2014

Linsey loves preschool. She is learning how to say and write her full name and how to pay attention in class. In September, Linsey participated in the Independence Day parade. She loved being able to dress up with some of the older girls and dancing while the band played. She was very excited to get to wear her pink dress and boots.

Linsey finished her first year of preschool and is really enjoying attending her class. She especially likes drawing and coloring. In the last part of the school year, your sponsorship of Linsey helped to cover the costs of medicine when she was sick as well as participation in an end of the year celebration. She participated in a school activity honoring traditional Nicaraguan customs by eating typical dishes. Her sponsorship also helped her family with food provisions during a particularly difficult time. In December, Linsey and her family received a water filter and teaching on water borne illnesses and how to protect themselves from those. This filter will provide her and her family with clean, purified water for several years. Thank you for helping to provide this for her!

Linsey started back to preschool in February 2015. She is excited to return to school. Linsey received her uniform, shoes, backpack, and school supplies. She also received a smock for when her class is painting and doing other activities. Thanks to her sponsorship, Linsey was able to celebrate her birthday at home with her family and friends. Sponsorship has also provided Linsey with free medical care and medicine through the clinic at New Song. Linsey’s mom had to take a few weeks off work due to her own health issues and her sponsorship provided her family with food provisions when her mom was unable to work. Thankfully, her mom was able to return to work after a few weeks of resting and recuperating.

December 2015

Linsey continues to do well in preschool. She received her new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes. She was also able to receive a new backpack when hers broke as well as an athletic outfit to participate in PE activities at her school. Sponsorship allowed Linsey to buy a book that she needed for class. It also gave Linsey the opportunity to participate in a field trip with her class. When Linsey became ill earlier this year, she was able to visit the New Song clinic where she received free medical care and medicine. In September, Nicaragua celebrates their independence. All of the schools are participating in Independence Day parades. Linsey has been chosen to participate in her school’s march. Sponsorship covers the cost of her participation in this event. Now that Linsey is a year older, she really enjoyed being a part of her school’s parade. Linsey and her family really enjoyed the opportunity to visit with you in June. They loved meeting her sponsor and having time with you in their home. Thank you for continuing to pour into her life and support her education.

April 2016

Linsey began her last year of preschool at the beginning of February. She is excited about her graduation and getting to move up to elementary school with her siblings. Thanks to her sponsorship, she received her backpack, uniform, shoes, school supplies, and an athletic outfit to be able to participate in her physical education class. Her favorite part of school is getting to color and draw. Her class has been learning to count and has been practicing the vowels. Linsey has loved hearing from you and receiving the gifts that you send down. She and her family ask about you often and hope you are doing well. Linsey’s mom works harvesting sugar cane. This work will end in May as the harvest season comes to a close. Through her sponsorship, Linsey will have all the tools she needs to succeed academically throughout the year.
