Magdiel and his family are so excited about his sponsorship! They have been struggling to meet their basic needs and sponsorship will greatly reduce their financial strain, especially as Magdiel prepares for his graduation. Magdiel began his final year of high school in February 2014. His favorite class is PE. Magdiel loves to draw and dreams of studying graphic design. Magdiel comes from a loving, joyful family! They love to be together and are an active part of the local church. Magdiel's dad is very musical. For the past couple months, he has been teaching Magdiel how to play the bass guitar.

Magdiel is in his final year of high school, and is passing all of his classes, although he finds physics and sociology especially challenging. He has been leading worship on his bass guitar, and helping teach Sunday School classes in Nuevo Amanecer. Magdiel received a new uniform, shoes, backpack, and school supplies at the beginning of the school year, and bought a scientific calculator through sponsorship to help him in his studies. He will also be receiving at dental cleaning through the New Song clinic.

Magdiel is looking forward to graduation at the end of the school year and is thinking a lot about what he would like to do post graduation. He will likely be pursuing higher education, but is having trouble narrowing down a field of interest between graphic design, architecture, and engineering. He continues to be active in Sunday School and worship at his local church, both musically and as a teacher to the youngest children in the congregation. Thanks to sponsorship, Magdiel was able to go on a field trip to Nagarote with his classmates. He also performed in a play through his school. Sponsorship allowed him to see a doctor and receive treatment for asthma related symptoms, as well as provide food aid to him and the family. A local drought has made food prices soar, causing already tight budgets to be stretched to their max so this aid was extremely needed and necessary. Thank you!

April 2016

Magdiel began his first year of university at the beginning of March. He is studying systems engineering at a university in Leon. He goes to class on Sundays for this year, which means he is unable to teach Sunday school. His class is sad that he isn’t able to be their teacher this year. He spent last year taking classes at a local technical school learning about computers and management. He was also able to take a more active role in his church. Magdiel continues to play the guitar for all the church services that are held in Nuevo Amanecer. His church was able to get a new building and Magdiel loves being a part of what is going on.

Fall 2016

Magdiel is currently in his first year of university. His classes are extremely challenging for him but he really loves what he is learning especially his drawing class. He says that his most challenging class is math as they have started advanced algebra. Magdiel studies and is sure to complete all his homework assignments so that he can succeed in his classes. He continues to attend class weekly on Sundays but is looking forward to the next year when he will be able to change to study on Saturdays. Magdiel has been helping teams that visit New Song by taking photos for them of their trip. He has learned a lot about photography and really loves it. Magdiel continues to play guitar and sing sometimes in church services during the week. In May, Magdiel decided to get baptized! We are so proud of him and excited for this new step in his faith!
