Bio

Missael lives with his mom, dad, and little brother. He began the 3rd grade in February 2015. Missael enjoys going to school with his friends and his favorite class is Language Arts. When he is not in school, Missael loves to play soccer with his family and neighbors. Missael’s mom works for New Song Mission in the moringa gardens a few hours a week. This allows her to supplement his dad’s income working in the sugar cane fields. The harvest season is six months of the year. During the six months of unemployment it is difficult for the family to make ends meet. When Missael grows up, he wants to be a truck driver.

November 2015

Missael is so excited to be sponsored! This is a big blessing to him and his family! Missael received the school supplies that he needed to complete his last month of third grade. Missael really loves school, especially his Language & Literature class. In this class, he has been learning to write paragraphs and studying synonyms and antonyms. Missael also loves participating in New Song’s baseball ministry. He plays 2nd base. Missael and his family have become more and more involved at New Song. Both of his parents are now working for the moringa program and his dad also coaches one of the baseball teams in Candelaria. We love to see the way that the entire family is growing!

April 2016

Missael started fourth grade in February 2016. He received his uniform, shoes, backpack, school supplies and an athletic outfit to participate in his PE class. His favorite class continues to be Language & Literature he loves to write paragraphs and learn about their characteristics. This year he has also been learning to divide sentences into subject and predicate. His most difficult class is math where he has been learning to write large numbers. Missael still plays baseball through the sports ministry at New Song Mission. He was so excited for the official opening day of the league in January. Missael is very athletic and is an excellent player.

Fall 2016

Missael continues to do well in fourth grade. Missael has a B average overall in his first semester of classes. His best grades are 91% in PE and 89% in Civics. In math, Missael has been learning long division. In science, they have recently completed a unit on weather. Missael received his new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes. Through his sponsorship, he was able to participate in a field trip with his class to the aquatic park. Missael loved going on this trip! He was also able to receive medical care and medicine through the New Song clinic. Missael finished his first season playing baseball as a part of New Song Mission’s sports ministry. His team finished in second place. Missael was then selected to play in the All-Star game. They started their second season in August. Missael is hoping that his team will win first place this time.
