Bio

Nahomi is an only child and lives with her mom and dad in a small tin house. Her mom does not work and her dad works in the sugar cane fields. He works seasonally from November until May and his able to provide for his family when he has work. Nahomi is in her first year of primary school (elementary school) and loves going to school. She is a sweet spirited little girl who loves her family very much. Her favorite class in school is math and she wants to be a dentist when she grows up. She wants to help children and adults as a dentist. Nahomi’s favorite color is purple and she loves to play with her friends and family and her dolls.

Nahomi is so excited to be sponsored! She is a bright young lady, and has been doing very well in school this year. She was honored as one of the top students in this year's Independence Day celebration, and her entire family was able to attend to celebrate her success (since the original posting, she has become a proud big sister to baby Brittany). Through sponsorship, she has received school supplies, a bookbag, and a new pair of shoes to last her through the end of the year. Nahomi was also able to consult with the doctor at New Song clinic and receive medicine for her cough. Her father was able to start work again this month, which is a great help to his family.

April 21, 2015

Nahomi finished 2nd grade in December 2014. She continues to be an excellent student. Nahomi is intelligent and full of life. Through her sponsorship, Nahomi was able to receive free medical care through the New Song clinic. She was also able to celebrate her birthday together with her family in November. Nahomi and her family attended a public health teaching on water-born illnesses and received a free water filter to ensure that they have access to clean drinking water. Nahomi has enjoyed her break from school. She started 3rd grade in February 2015. She received her new uniform, shoes, backpack, and school supplies for the new year.

June 2015

Nahomi is enjoying her year in third grade. She loves her classes and enjoys school. Through her sponsorship Nahomi was able to receive an athletic outfit to fully participate in her PE class. She was also able to receive extra school supplies for special class projects. Nahomi has been learning about the human body and nutrition in her science class. In Language & Literature, Nahomi has been learning to identify the subject and predicate of a sentence. In Social Studies, she has been working to create maps of her community. In math, her class has been working on multiple-digit multiplication and has just started to study division. Nahomi is excellent with her multiplication tables, but has been struggling a little bit with division. She will be working with our sponsorship staff to help improve her division skills. Nahomi has a B+ average overall in her classes. Her best grades are in Cultural Studies and PE (both 100%) and Civics (94%). Nahomi needed dental work and was able to receive the help she needed at the New Song clinic thanks to her sponsorship. She and her family were recently given five little kittens. Nahomi is so excited about her new pets. She named her favorite one, Tom, after Tom and Jerry. She loves to show them off to any person who stops by her home.

December 2015

Nahomi received her new uniform and shoes for the second semester of classes. She continues to do well in 3rd grade. She has a B average overall. Her best grades are in PE (100%) and Language & Literature (90%). Nahomi’s most difficult class continues to be math. Nahomi was invited to participate in the Independence Day parade with her school where she was honored as a top student. Her sponsorship covered the cost of her participation in this event.

April 2016

Nahomi began fourth grade in February 2016. She received her uniform, shoes, backpack, school supplies and an athletic outfit to participate in her PE class. Nahomi’s favorite class is math because she loves to work with numbers. Although she enjoys this class, it is also her most difficult subject. Her class has been focusing on multiplication and division of multi-digit numbers. Nahomi is working hard to do well in this class. She continues to be a bright and diligent student. Nahomi also loves coming to church each week and participating in the Sunday school program. Nahomi loves to sing solos during Sunday school.

Fall 2016

Nahomi continues to work hard in fourth grade. Nahomi continues to excel in her classes. She is an excellent student! She has all A’s and B’s in her classes. Her best grades in the first semester are 99% in Math and 95% in Language Arts. In math she has been learning how to divide four digit numbers. In Language Arts, they have been studying poetry and writing simple and compound sentences. In Science, Nahomi has been learning how to protect the environment. She received her new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes as well as additional school supplies that she needs to be successful in her classes.
