Oscar began his second year of medical technology school in March. Oscar did extremely well in all of his classes during his first year of university. His top grade was a 96% and lowest was an 82%. Oscar enjoys the major he has chosen and hopes to one day work in a hospital nearby. He continues to teach Sunday School in one of the outreach villages and gets 12 hours of practice in the local hospital each week. He says he likes the time he spends at the hospital because it gives him experience and an open door to share about God with the patients. He encourages them to have faith before their exams and to trust in Him during the hard times. In his time at home, Oscar enjoys reading Ecclesiastes, studying, watching TV, or listening to music.

Oscar finished his second year of university at the beginning of March and excelled on his exams. His third year of classes began a week afterwards, which did not give Oscar much of a break between school years. Oscar loves his classes and works hard to maintain his standing. A few months ago, Oscar had some pain in his heart and went to the hospital. He was given some medicine and some information on how to keep his condition stable. Oscar needs to remain in good physical health and has been doing zumba in his house with his family. His doctor recommended that he carry his EKG results and information on his condition with him wherever he goes in case he has an episode. We are so proud of Oscar persistence and desire to do well in school and not let this stop him. He maintains great grades and volunteers in the New Song Clinic. Oscar’s most difficult class continues to be chemistry. In his classes, he must complete practicum hours. Oscar has been working in the local hospital to fulfill these requirements.

Oscar is faithfully serving as a Sunday School teacher in the Rios of Agua Viva church. His church recently moved locations to be on a different side of the river. This makes it more convenient for him as his family lives there. Because of the new church location, Oscar has new students in his Sunday School class. He has the pre-teen aged class of 10-12 year olds and works alongside 5 other Sunday School teachers. Outside of Sunday School, he serves monthly and goes above and beyond the program's requirements of service hours. He volunteers in the clinic and is always eager to help in the medical outreaches. When he is not studying, he enjoys time with his family. Oscar's mother was diagnosed with uterine cancer this past year. This has been hard on his family but she is doing well and staying joyful despite her illness. Oscar received his grades for the second trimester. He continues to excel in his classes with most of his grades above 94%. We are proud of the work that Oscar is doing and how much he loves what he is learning.

Fall 2016

Oscar is doing so well in his classes. He really enjoys what he is learning and says that he has no grade below an 80%. Oscar says that his most difficult class is how to examine blood. He continues to volunteer in the New Song Clinic. The clinic recently changed locations to better serve the city of Chichigalpa. Oscar likes this new location as it is much closer to his house and he has more to do with more patients. He continues to help out at his church teaching Sunday school and helping with youth projects occasionally including choreographing dances for them to perform.
