Randal and his family participated in a health seminar on water-born illnesses through the New Song church and received a water filter to provide clean drinking water to their family. Randal is enjoying his break from school. His family is doing much better and he is looking forward to spending the holidays with them. Randal began his fourth year of high school at the beginning of February. Through his sponsorship, he received his uniform, backpack, school shoes, and the materials he needed for the beginning of the year. He also received a separate uniform for his PE class and a scientific calculator for math, physics, and chemistry. Randal’s favorite class is English although he is embarrassed to practice it with New Song staff. He is struggling some in his Chemistry and Physics classes as they are very difficult. Randal says that he really wants to do well in his classes even if he doesn’t always like everything about school. He has begun attending a small group for boys his age taught by New Song staff. We are excited about this opportunity Randal has to grow.

November 2015

Randal received his second report card of the year and has raised many of his grades. He is doing a better job paying attention in class and not causing distractions. His top grades are in physical education and chemistry. Randal still struggles some in his physics class and says that it is, by far, the most difficult for him. April 2016

Randal began his fifth and final year of high school in February. He received his uniform, shoes, backpack, school supplies and an athletic outfit to participate in his PE class. He struggles to maintain motivation for his classes, but is excited that he is close to completing high school. His sponsorship also helped him to purchase books that he needed for his biology and vocational studies classes. This year sponsorship is requiring service hours for all high school students so that they are doing something to give back to the community. Randal has been staying after Sunday school to help pick up trash around the property at New Song Mission.

Fall 2016

Randal continues to struggle both academically and with class conduct. In the first grading period he was failing two classes, but was able to raise both of those grades in the second grading period. He is so close to completing his high school education. Although he is often unmotivated in school, Randal is very proud of himself to be able to finish high school. He is looking forward to his graduation in December. Randal received his new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes. This was the last school uniform that he would ever receive. Through his sponsorship, he was also able to attend a field trip with his school to the capital city of Managua. Randal has been working on his senior research project covering the first five works of Ruben Dario, Nicaragua’s most famous poet. Thank you for supporting Randal’s education and helping him to reach this milestone.
