Bio

Rosibel lives with her parents and four siblings. They all live in a small house on the grandmother’s property along with several other members of their extended family. Her parents do not have steady employment. When they are able to find work, they can meet their basic needs. When they are without employment, they struggle to even meet their basic needs. Rosibel is in need of medical care to treat for parasites and anemia. Sponsorship would provide Rosibel with free medical and dental care through the New Song clinic. Rosibel is currently in third grade. Her favorite class is Spanish. In her free time, she likes to play with her siblings and cousins. When she grows up, she dreams of becoming a teacher.

July 2015

Rosibel is so excited to be sponsored and was thankful to get to meet you on your recent trip to Nicaragua. Currently, Rosibel’s favorite class is Spanish where they are getting to read stories. In math, her class is working on multi-digit multiplication. Through her sponsorship, Rosibel received her uniform, school shoes, and the materials she needed to be successful in her classes. She was so appreciative of this opportunity. In July, Rosibel has a weeklong school break. She enjoyed her time off from classes and spent it playing with her neighbors and family.

November 2015

Rosibel is excited about finishing the fifth grade. In Nicaragua, the school year runs from February to the end of November so Rosibel will begin the sixth grade next year. She significantly raised her grades so noticeably that the teacher thanked her family for their support at home on her last report card. Rosibel’s top grades are in Language Arts and Culture. Through her sponsorship, Rosibel was able to go on a class field trip to Leon and participate in an activity at her school celebrating traditional Nicaraguan food dishes. Rosibel also completed several class research assignments and received a separate uniform for her physical education class.

April 2016

Rosibel began 6th grade in February 2016. She received her uniform, shoes, backpack, school supplies and an athletic outfit to participate in her PE class. Rosibel’s favorite class is Language & Literature because she loves to read. She has also been learning how to separate sentences into subject and predicate. Although math is her most difficult class, Rosibel has been very interested in learning about polygons and how to calculate their perimeter and area. She enjoyed the opportunity to see you once again on your most recent trip to Nicaragua. She is looking forward to spending more time with you when you return in May.

Fall 2016

Rosibel loved having you here at New Song for the summer! It was such a blessing to her to spend more time with you and to build a deeper friendship. She is so thankful for that time. Rosibel continues to work hard in sixth grade and is looking forward to her graduation in December. She received a new uniform and pair of shoes for her second semester of classes. Rosibel’s best grade is 80% in Language Arts. In this class, they have been reading and analyzing scientific texts. Math is her most difficult class. Rosibel continues to work on mastering long division. Rosibel also enjoyed completing a class project showing traditional outfits of Nicaragua for her Civics class. Thanks to her sponsorship, Rosibel was able to attend a field trip with her school to the neighboring city of Leon. She also received medical care and medicine through the clinic at New Song.
