Bio

Sweet Ruth is a little shy, but she enjoys getting to play with her cousins all day long. She lives with them, her mother, grandmother, and her two siblings – an older sister and a younger brother. She will be starting preschool this year, and is very excited to see what that will be like. She already has big dreams and plans to be a professor when she grows up! Ruth’s mother is unable to work as she stays home to watch over the kids and the house, but her father works in the military in Northern Nicaragua, and is able to send money monthly to help out with expenses.

Ruth and her family are so excited for her sponsorship! Her mom exclaimed, “God has heard my prayers!” when she was told of her daughter’s sponsorship. Ruth is enjoying her year in preschool. Her teacher says that she is an excellent student who comes to school everyday and participates when in class. Ruth is learning to identify and write her vowels and her numbers 1-10. Ruth received her uniform, shoes, backpack, and school supplies for the new school year. She was also received an athletic outfit to fully participate in PE activities with her class. Through her sponsorship, Ruth also provided a broom and mop for her class to use to take care of their classroom.

December 2015

Ruth continues to enjoy preschool. She loves to learn new things every day! Ruth breaks into a huge smile whenever she talks about school. Ruth is also getting very excited about her upcoming preschool graduation this December. She received a new uniform and pair of shoes for the second semester of classes. Through her sponsorship, Ruth was able to buy a book that she needed for class as well as participate in a field trip with her school. Ruth has been chosen to march with her class in the school’s Independence Day parade in September. Her sponsorship covered the cost of her participation in this event. She also received free medical care and medicine through the New Song clinic. Sponsorship allowed Ruth to celebrate her birthday at home with her family. It was a special gift for her to be able to celebrate and have birthday cake. Thank you for investing in her life.

April 2016

Ruth began the first grade at the beginning of February. She is such a sweet girl who has a beautiful heart. Thanks to her sponsorship, she received her uniform, backpack, shoes, school supplies, and an athletic outfit to be able to participate in her physical education class. In this beginning of the year, Ruth’s class has been doing a review of everything they learning in preschool so that the teacher can see where the students are academically. The teacher comments that Ruth is a smart girl and attends class daily. The class is working on practicing their vowels as well as sound blends with consonants. Ruth also practices writing her name on a daily basis. She so loved your visit with her and getting to spend time with her and her family.

Fall 2016

Ruth continues to enjoy first grade. She has satisfactory grades in both reading and math. Ruth has been learning to identify numbers as less than and greater than. She is now beginning to solve simple addition and subtraction problems. In Language Arts, she continues to learn all of her letters and letter sounds, decodes simple words and is learning to write simple sentences. Thanks to her sponsorship, Ruth was able to participate in an activity with her school where she danced a traditional Nicaraguan folk dance. She was also able to receive medical care and medicine through the New Song clinic. Ruth is such a joy and loves to laugh!
