Bio

Yulbelkis lives with her mom and young niece in a small cement home. Her dad walked out on her and her mom when Yulbelkis was only three. Her mom has continued to struggle to provide for her as a single mom. This year has been particularly difficult for the family. In January 2013, her mom discovered that she had a large tumor in her ovaries. In June 2013, she had a 15 lbs. tumor removed. Yulbelkis's mom has been unable to work this entire year because of her illness. The family has survived thanks to the generosity and kindness of their neighbors and church family. Due to her mom's illness and lack of work, Yulbelkis was unable to study in 2013. She should be in 1st grade. Yulbelkis loves to learn and longs to return to school. Without sponsorship, it is unlikely that she will be able to study. She dreams of studying and becoming a teacher.
